This is a very,
very nice Ted Flower's "Royal" pattern parade saddle set.
Big
padded tan seat with an unusual "EZ Rig" rigging. Set includes saddle,
tapaderos, breastcollar, bridle, reins, and serapes. Lots of extras
like the silver wrapped horn with horsehead and check out the
leather tooling... it is exceptional! Genuine vintage
wool corona blanket and a hip drop that matches are also available for
an extra cost. Saddle will ship in a new padded saddle carrier.
The Royal model is distinguished by the square domed conchos that are
each emblazoned with a horsehead. This pattern was very popular with
those competing in the show ring because under the big lights those
dome shaped conchos really create a dramatic effect. Collector quality set, display or suitable for National level
competition. There are
30
photos-- use the small arrows on each side of the film strip to scroll
side to side and click on the small photos to enlarge them in the main
window.
There are also details
written under many of the photos.

Information on this great saddle |
You really do not see this very often. This saddle is actually marked with a "Ted Flowers" seat plate. Closeup! No scratchy, tatty silver on this beauty! Matching hip drop also available. Upgraded silver wrapped horn with horsehead. I really like the very wide straps on these serapes, and yes they are original! Less strap breakage and will fit on a horses back better! This set comes with a full silver bridle and reins. Close up of silver on the serapes. You can see how this saddle was prized and well cared for in its lifetime. Full silver parade reins. This saddle looks even better close up! It is really neat how the light reflects off these conchos! Nice Tan padded seat, very pretty! This saddle is actually quite comfortable for an adult to ride in. Vintage wool corona may also be purchased with this saddle. Close up of EZ Rig rigging. 15 inches measured the right way! This is a large seat for a Flowers saddle. This saddle was relined by Master saddler Robert Glessner. Over time the linings on these saddles will deteriorate.
The vast majority of ted Flowers saddles you find today were not marked. They are usually identified by the conchos used and the construction. Everything even down to the string tips is bright and shiny. The "hip drop" is the piece shown on thee floor in front of the saddle. It attaches to the back of the saddle and is secured under the horses tail. Most Ted Flowers saddles just have a plain metal horn with a Flower engraved into the metal. This one is encased in german silver which would have been an upgrade. This is a well kept saddle with many special touches! The diamonds on the center plates is also an upgrade. This is a very unusual rigging for a Flowers saddle and likely was a custom order. This saddle "sits" very roomy... a nice one for someone who actually intends to use it. Flowers offered 2 seat sizes in his catalog: 14 & 15 inch. It is not an easy job to have one replaced correctly and it can be very expensive to have it done. While it was apart the saddle was conditioned so this saddle is ready to go on into the future as a prized collectible for many, many years to come.
