Silver mounted parade saddle by Edward Bohlin made
especially for famous western film star Tim Holt, with
bridle, breast collar, tapaderos and corona.
There is a letter from Danny Lang, president and chairman
of the board, Edward Bohlin Company, 11/28/1987 to the owner whose name is engraved on the backplate of the
saddle and authenticates this saddle and the accessories and
an additional letter from Sally Hollar, General Manager of
Bohlin, dated 11/20/87 mentions the unique round skirts on
this saddle whereas the Tim Holt model offered by Bohlin had
square skirts.
The saddle and accessories remain in fine to excellent
condition for their age and the saddle shows exceptional
carving. The Bohlin plaque is mounted in the center portion
of the seat.
Tim Holt was one of Hollywood's top ten box office stars
from 1941-1943 and again in 1948-1952. He is best remembered
as the younger partner to Humphrey Bogart in The Treasure of
Sierra Madre (1948). He made 75 movies and his career lasted
over 40 years.
Edward Bohlin was heard to have said that the best saddles
he made were in brown. "you can't hide any mistakes".
